Connecting a Share Point Data Source

  1. In Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint, go to the dox42 ribbon and select Data Map.

  2. The Data Map Designer window opens.

  3. Select SharePoint.

  4. In tab Data Source (DS)

    1. Give the new DS a name.

    2. Enter the Site you want to connect to.

    3. Select your preferred authentication type.

  5. Based on your selection, see below steps.

Using Entra ID Impersonation

  1. Select Office365 Azure Active Directory Impersonation

  2. Click on Office365 Azure Active Directory

  3. Enter your tenant details

    1. To centrally manage your Azure tenants and simplify tenant setup, you may use another connected excel data source. See: Using a Microsoft Excel config file for the Add-in’s Entra ID configuration (recommended)

    2. Connect and Test your new data source.

Using an Application User with Certificate

  • Instead of Entra ID impersonation, you can also connect to your SP data sources with an application user and a certificate that have been added to Entra ID

  • You need to prior upload the certificate to your Entra ID app registration and password protect it.

  1. Select the Azure Active Directory Certificate button.

  2. Enter your App ID and Tenant ID.

  3. Select Import certificate.

  4. Select OK.

Result

You can now connect to your SharePoint Online data sources.
